Botox Cosmetics
Botox, the brand-name version of botulinum toxin type A, is also for cosmetic purposes. Benefits of Botox Cosmetics include:
Wrinkle Reduction
Botox Cosmetics is most commonly used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, particularly those caused by muscle movement. It is effective on: Glabellar Lines, Crow’s Feet, and Forehead Lines.

Botox Cosmetics blocks nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected, preventing the muscle from contracting. Thus reducing wrinkles caused by those muscle movements.

Azzalure
Also known as Dysport, Azzalure by Galderma functions as a neuromodulator.
Azzalure’s effects typically last for about 3 to 6 months, after which the treatment would need to be repeated to maintain the results.
Cosmetic Use
Primarily, it’s used for aesthetic purposes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, particularly frown lines between the eyebrows. It works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause these lines, leading gradually to a smoother appearance of the skin.
Mechanism
Azzalure/Dysport contains botulinum toxin type A, which blocks the nerve signals to the muscles where it’s injected. Preventing the muscles from contracting, thus smoothing out wrinkles caused by muscle movement.

Jeuveau
Jeuveau, also known as Nuceiva, is an Evolus Product, is a botulinum toxin type A product developed by Evolus, primarily used for cosmetic purposes.
This product aims to provide an alternative in the neurotoxin market, focusing on aesthetic enhancements with specific attention to the psychological impact of facial lines.
Temporary Improvement of Glabellar Lines
It is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe vertical lines between the eyebrows, known as glabellar lines, seen at maximum frown. This treatment is specifically for adults below 65 years of age who experience a significant psychological impact from these lines.
Onset and Duration
The effects of Nuceiva can be noticed as early as 2 days after treatment, with a significant percentage of users showing improvement at this time. The treatment lasts up to 4 months, with studies showing a reduction in the severity of glabellar lines by at least one point on the glabellar line severity scale for up to 4-6 months
High Patient Satisfaction
There is a reported high level of patient satisfaction with Nuceiva, with 91.3% of patients showing at least a one-point improvement on the subject satisfaction scale by day 30 post-treatment.
Manufacturing and Purity
Nuceiva is produced in a state-of-the-art facility, offering a purity of more than 95%, which is aimed at delivering natural-looking results through intramuscular injection.
Safety and Efficacy
The safety and efficacy have been evaluated through the TRANSPARENCY clinical program, which included multiple Phase III trials. These studies compared Nuceiva with Botox and placebo, showing Nuceiva to be at least as effective, if not more so, in reducing glabellar lines, with side effects similar to other products in its class.

Nuceiva is approved by the FDA in the U.S. under the name Jeuveau, and by the European Commission by marketing in the EU for the same indication.
Bocouture
Bocouture, also known as Nuceiva, is a Merz product, is a botulinum toxin type A product used for aesthetic treatments.
Bocouture works by blocking the nerve signals to the muscles responsible for these expressions, thereby reducing the muscle activity that causes wrinkles.
Reduces Wrinkles
Bocouture is primarily used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows), horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet (lateral periorbital wrinkles).
Aesthetic Medicine
Bocouture is part of Merz Aesthetics’ portfolio, which focuses on enhancing aesthetic appearance and boosting patients’ confidence through non-surgical treatments.
Relaxes Muscles
The active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A, inhibits the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, leading to temporary relaxation of the targeted muscles. This effect smoothes out the skin where wrinkles form due to muscle contractions.
Approval and Use
It has received approval for these indications across several countries in Europe and is noted for being the only neurotoxin in Europe with approval for combined treatment of upper facial lines at the time of its notable expansion in indications.
